LUMENSIA Sensors, S.L. is a Spanish SME company focused on the development of biosensing devices based on proprietary integrated photonics technology, addressing high volume markets such as Health, Food, Environment and Defense.
LUME was founded in 2013 by DAS PHOTONICS S.L., current owner of 80% of shares, with the aim of continuing R&D lines, accelerating the technological development and industrialising and commercialising the results achieved by DAS PHOTONICS S.L. on biosensing field resulting from its participation in multiple European R+D projects (FPVII and H2020) and European Defence Agency (EDA) projects. When LUME was created, DAS transferred to the new company its whole know-how, personnel and fixed assets in biosensing.
LUME is based in Valencia (Spain), in the campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and has its own laboratory for testing and biofunctionalization purposes. LUME has close and direct access to a 500 sqm class-10 clean room, property of UPV-NTC, where the chips for biosensing are manufactured.

As a result of different R&D projects funded by the European Commission and the Spanish Government, LUME has raised the TRL level of its products up to 6, testing them in real food productions facilities. Thanks to photonics technology, LUME is developing a range of products to provide a wide variety of solutions like fast and reliable diagnosis of diseases, sensing of allergenic and pathogenic elements in food, environment continuous monitoring and CBRNE threats detection.
LUME has among its objectives the improvement of quality of life, food security and people and infrastructures security.
LUME aims to be an international technological reference in photonic sensing field, overcoming the lack of performance of current market alternatives. Photonic technology advantages will act as main differential factor in front of competitor solutions.
ROLE IN PROJECT
LUME will be the Technical and Exploitation Manager (WP8) of SaPher project. As technical manager, LUME will assume the responsibility of reaching in time and quality TRL 9 within the foreseen budget, putting all the efforts that such a goal requires, while as exploitation manager they will ensure the seamless delivery of the project results, elaborate a business plan and secure IP. In addition, they will lead WP 5 devoted to the industrialization of the base station and will provide active support to the rest of the work packages.
